Multi-artist, multi panel mural on East 12th St. in East Village, New York City

For the scope and artists involved, this mural has to be one of my least favorites. Usually collabs come together nicely in a blend with impressive scale, but this piece just never comes together with clear, disparate works that had seemingly no link from one to another other than they shared the same wall. I didn’t feel any joy or inspiration here. It’s shame because there are some truly great street artists in this six-artist project. The mural was painted over in March 2018 and lasted less than a year. The artists included Hektad, Phoebe, WRDSMTH, Meg Zany, Outersource and Thomas Allen.

DETAILS/SUMMARY"Our art on the #212wall in the EV has been painted over, apparently following the closure of the corner nail salon which had commissioned the wall. We guess the landlord did not like the art enough to keep it there. We are very sorry for the jobs and business loss of the Pastel nail salon and we are very grateful for all the great pics posted and the positive neighborhood reaction."
